Friday morning Sean and I woke up at 2am and began a journey in which we drove across 5 states in 3 days. Why? Sean's dad sold his Corvette and asked us to drive it home to Edmonds from Anthem, Arizona. We flew out of Seatac at 5am and arrived in Phoenix at 8am. We dropped our bags off at Craig & Patty's house in Anthem and drove Craig's scooter in 110 degree heat over to McDonald's for a sausage mcmuffin. Then we motored to Safeway to get a few groceries ~ as we promised to spend every minute of the rest of the day in the pool. And that we did!Saturday morning, we revved up the Corvette, took the top off and hit the road. The hills were littered with cactus. It was such a beautiful drive. We stopped in a quaint town called Wickenburg and looked for quirky souveniers...I was tempted to buy a $2000 chandelier, but there just wasnt room for it in the corvette. Somewhere in the middle of nowhere, we pulled over to take a few pics of the amazing rock formations along the highway. I couldnt resist the wild impulse I had to climb up some of the rocks. My heart was pounding as I thought about all the snakes and lizzards. The view was unbelievable though!
We drove on...the temperature hit 115 degrees by the time we arrived at Hoover Dam. Our faces were torched from the sun and our backs were drenched from sweat - it was a drive we'll never forget. We treated ourselves to ice cream bars at the Hoover Dam gift shop and a jug of water.
We pulled into Las Vegas around 3:30, checked in to the Monte Carlo and found the fastes route direct to the pool. We enjoyed the afternoon people watching in and out of the pool and had a few ice cold beers. We were so exhausted from our sun-drenched drive, our night in Vegas was a mellow one. We had dinner at Diablo's, bought the boys souveniers from M&M World and walked the strip. The water show at the Bellagio was the highlight. For our boys, we got our pictrue taken with the Indiana Jones M&M.
Sunday we drove thru Death Valley, CA. The desert was beautiful and the view from Zabriskie Point was breathtaking. Photos can't even capture it.

We cut across California at a small town called Markleeville and the temperature dopped 20 degrees. The hills were green and the clouds rolled in and it rained on us. The wet rain felt so nice - we drove thru the rain with the top down and felt the raindrops on our faces. We drove 13 hours straight on Sunday and stopped for the night in Redding, CA.

Monday morning on the way out of Redding, we could see Lake Shasta! And all the memories of our College Graduation trip to Shasta came back to us. We could see houseboats tied up at the banks of the lake. We decided that's another trip we'll definately have to do together as a family!
5 states in 3 days: Arizona, Nevada, California, Oregon and Washington. 1556 miles. That's a lot of memories...More than I could possibly share on this blog.
